We are looking for a Payments Analyst who serves as a hybrid role bridging Payment Operations Support and Business Analysis. The position focuses on investigating payment related issues, understanding how payment transactions flow across company systems, and supporting operational teams with troubleshooting and analysis.

About the role


This role requires a naturally curious and analytical mindset. Payments within the organization involve multiple ERP platforms, integrations with external vendors, and complex transaction lifecycles. The ideal candidate will be motivated to continuously learn how these systems interact and evolve.

The role also supports implementation activities and operational initiatives such as payment token migrations between vendors and assisting implementation consultants with technical payment related questions.

Over time, the Payments Analyst is expected to develop a deep understanding of payment workflows and grow into a Business Analyst role specializing in payment systems and integrations.


Key Responsibilities

Payment Transaction Investigation

  • Investigate payment related issues reported by Support, PayOps, or Implementation teams

  • Analyze transaction flows across ERP systems, payment gateways, processors, and other integrated services

  • Identify potential causes of failed, declined, or mismatched payment transactions

  • Assist with diagnosing discrepancies between ERP systems and payment processor records


Operational Payment Support

  • Act as a Tier 2 escalation point for complex payment related support cases

  • Support internal teams in troubleshooting payment processing issues across environments

  • Assist with identifying patterns in operational payment incidents


Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Perform SQL queries and data analysis to validate payment transaction behavior

  • Assist in building reports and data extracts used for payment investigations and reconciliation

  • Analyze transaction records, processor responses, and system logs when diagnosing issues


ERP and Integration Knowledge Development

  • Develop familiarity with the ERP platforms used across the organization and how they interact with payment services

  • Learn how payment transactions flow through the system lifecycle including authorization, processing, settlement, and reconciliation

  • Understand how integrations with external vendors operate including payment gateways, processors, IVR systems, and payment terminals


Implementation and Vendor Migration Support

  • Assist implementation consultants with technical payment related questions during customer onboarding or system changes

  • Support operational efforts related to payment token migrations between payment vendors and gateways

  • Help validate migrated payment tokens and ensure transactions continue to process successfully after migration

  • Collaborate with internal teams and payment vendors to ensure smooth transitions during payment infrastructure changes

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing

  • Assist in maintaining operational documentation for payment troubleshooting and investigation procedures

  • Contribute to guides and knowledge resources used by Support and operational teams

  • Help document recurring payment issues and their resolutions

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with Support, PayOps, Product, and Development teams when investigating payment issues

  • Provide clear summaries of investigation findings to both technical and non technical stakeholders

  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve payment related workflows or operational processes

Preferred Skills and Qualifications


Technical Skills

  • Basic SQL or database querying experience

  • Ability to analyze system data and transaction records

  • Familiarity with APIs, integrations, or system logs is a plus

Domain Knowledge

  • Previous experience in payments, fintech, or financial transaction processing is preferred but not required

  • Experience supporting ERP systems or enterprise applications is beneficial

Analytical Skills

  • Strong investigative and problem solving mindset

  • Ability to identify patterns across data and system behavior

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn complex systems

Communication

  • Ability to explain technical findings in a clear and concise way

  • Comfortable collaborating with both technical and operational teams
