Role description: Location: Onsite Limerick - Commencement date January 4th 2027
This internship is for a technically motivated developer who wants hands-on experience building real software on a modern .NET stack, with AI development tooling as a core part of the workflow. You will work embedded within an engineering pod, contributing to production-grade features and learning what it means to ship software in a professional environment.
This is not a support or documentation role. You will write code, participate in code review, and use AI-assisted development tools as a multiplier on your output from day one.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain features in C# and ASP.NETCore across web and backend services
• Write unit and integration tests as standard practice, not an afterthought
• Use Claude Code and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, review, and debugging tasks
• Participate in pull request reviews and contribute constructive feedback to peers
• Work within a Kanban delivery model, managing your own task flow within a small pod
• Engage with MCP-based tooling and internal developer platform capabilities
• Contribute to technical documentation where relevant
Required Skills and Experience
Technical
• Proficiency in C# or a comparable statically typed language (Java, TypeScript)
• Understanding of object-oriented design principles
• Familiarity with REST APIs and HTTP fundamentals
• Exposure to SQL and relational databases
• Comfortable using Git for source control
Mindset
• Genuine curiosity about AI-led development and eagerness to learn new tooling
• Ability to read and understand unfamiliar code independently
• Direct communicator who asks questions early rather than getting blocked
• Comfortable with ambiguity and iterative delivery
Desirable (Not Required)
• Experience with .NET 6+ or ASP.NETCore
• Exposure to Azure or any cloud platform
• Familiarity with Docker or containerised development environments
• Prior use of AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code
• Knowledge of Agile or Kanban delivery methods
What You Will Learn
Beyond the technical skills, this internship is designed to give you a realistic picture of professional software engineering in a large-scale SaaS organisation.
• How to use Claude Code and agentic AI tooling as a genuine productivity multiplier, not a novelty
• What production-quality code looks like and how it gets there through review and iteration
• How engineering decisions are made in an organisation running hundreds of developers across multiple teams
• Exposure to platform engineering concepts including Kubernetes, Azure, and MCP-based agent architectures
• How DORA metrics and engineering KPIs are used to measure and improve team performance
