The Network Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and security of AMCS’s business systems and IT infrastructure. This role involves developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting data networks and systems, while aligning with business and security requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and manage firewalls, handling both ticket-based and project-based tasks.

  • Support and maintain firewall rule bases and objects; implement access control policies.

  • Perform IDS/IPS configuration, updates, and tuning.

  • Ensure compliance with internal security policies and external regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).

  • Optimize the performance and reliability of security systems.

  • Ensure all project work aligns with core business and security requirements.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and provide support to Level 1 technicians as needed.

  • Provide Tier 1–3 problem determination, isolation, and recovery support for core business systems.

  • Collaborate closely with other IT team members across infrastructure, applications, and support.

  • Maintain network asset inventory, documentation, and technical specifications.

  • Support IT infrastructure transitions during company acquisitions.

  • Communicate IT issues and changes in a timely and professional manner.

🔍 Knowledge & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in systems and network administration.

  • Proven experience configuring and supporting firewalls (Cisco, Sophos, Fortinet).

  • Strong background in switching technologies and configurations.

  • Experience administering Microsoft Office 365, Intune, Azure AD, DNS, and DHCP.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in high-pressure environments.

  • Experience designing and deploying LAN, WLAN, and WAN using various network equipment and protocols (Layer 2/3 switches, STP, fiber, firewalls, routers, WAPs, VLANs).

  • Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for network tasks and monitoring.

  • Familiarity with cloud identity and access solutions (ADFS, AD Connect, SAML, Federation).

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

🎓 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.

  • Network certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIS) are beneficial.

  • Azure or AWS cloud certifications are a plus.

Hybrid position based in Limerick (3 days per week in the office and 2x days from home).
