Build what matters. Grow where it counts.

Who We Are

At AMCS, sustainability means business — and careers that create impact. From our roots in Ireland to our teams across Europe, North America and Australasia, we are bringing together ambitious people to help reshape the industries that sustain our world.

What We Build

We build intelligent, cloud-based SaaS solutions that turn complex operations into smarter, more sustainable performance. Powered by AI, data and deep industry expertise, our technology helps customers optimise routes, manage recycling, improve compliance, unlock insight and move faster toward a more efficient, circular future.

Why Join AMCS

Join AMCS and be part of a global team where purpose meets performance. Here, you can grow your career, challenge what’s possible and work on technology that makes a measurable difference — for our customers, our communities and the planet.

Due to the continued level of growth at AMCS, we have an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Engineering Quality & Excellence Manager.

This role exists to scale engineering standards and quality practices across the entire global Engineering organisation. It defines what good engineering looks like at AMCS, measures whether the organisation is actually doing it, and drives Engineering Managers to close the gaps.

This role becomes the operational owner of the engineering excellence system: senior Engineering leadership sets strategy and expectations; this role turns those expectations into standards, measurement, governance and improvement programmes; Engineering Managers remain accountable for implementing them in their teams.

What you'll do

• Define, own and evolve the global engineering standards that describe what good engineering looks like across all products and teams — covering source control, code review, CI/CD, testing, static analysis, security and observability.

• Own the global engineering maturity model and the scorecard derived from it, running assessments that give senior Engineering leadership a credible view of quality, risk and trend.

• Use data to identify systemic quality and engineering risk, and drive improvement programmes with Engineering Managers, holding them accountable for closing gaps in their own teams.

• Provide strategic leadership to the Quality Engineering function through the Quality Engineering Manager, targeting quality engineering investment at the highest-risk areas.

• Act as the central Engineering point of contact for engineering-related compliance and audit requirements, translating them into concrete engineering expectations and coordinating Engineering's response.

• Partner with Engineering Managers on capability building while holding the line on standards — leading primarily through influence and credible data rather than line authority.

• Own reporting to senior Engineering leadership — providing the metrics, updates and status on engineering quality and maturity.

What you'll bring

• Substantial experience in senior engineering, engineering quality or engineering excellence leadership roles within a multi-product software organisation.

• Deep understanding of modern engineering practice — source control strategy, code review, CI/CD, test automation strategy, static analysis, performance engineering, observability and secure development — with enough depth to credibly challenge Engineering Managers on any of them.

• Strong command of engineering and quality metrics, and the judgement to distinguish a meaningful signal from a metric that will be gamed.

• Proven ability to drive change across organisational boundaries through influence, evidence and governance rather than line authority.

• Experience defining and running a maturity model, assessment framework or engineering standards programme at scale.

• Experience of regulatory or audit frameworks such as SOC 2, PCI DSS or ISO 27001 from the engineering side, including evidence and remediation.

• Comfortable operating globally across time zones, cultures and engineering teams with different histories and maturity levels.

• Credible with engineers without needing to be a hands-on developer — genuine technical literacy and the confidence to hold a technical argument.

• Resilient and direct, able to deliver unwelcome findings to peers and hold the standard under delivery pressure.

How success will be measured (first 12 months)

• Demonstrable improvement in engineering maturity scores across the portfolio, with the weakest teams improving fastest.

• Reduction in customer-found and escaped defects, and improvement in release quality.

• Increased consistency of engineering practice across products, measured against the standards rather than asserted.

• Engineering quality risk identified proactively from data rather than surfacing through customer impact or escalation.

• Engineering compliance obligations met on time, with evidence available and audits passing without engineering-side surprises.

• Quality Engineering investment demonstrably targeted at the highest-risk areas.

• Engineering Managers treating the scorecard as a useful management tool rather than an imposed reporting exercise.
