Digitisation of manual and paper processes increases efficiency and turnover, and improves customer satisfaction
Diemen, January 7, 2021, Ortessa, with its subsidiaries Van Kaathoven Groep, Veyzle, and Valor Compostering, is the first in the Netherlands to transition to the latest version of the AMCS Platform. The ultra-modern, scalable cloud platform optimises all operational business processes of the Ortessa group of companies.
At the end of December, Rob Meulendijks, CEO of Ortessa, signed off on the transition of the current back office software from PieterBas (which was acquired by AMCS at the end of 2019), supplemented by the implementation of two new integrated solutions of the AMCS Platform: AMCS Mobile Workforce and AMCS Customer Portal.
Digitisation as a core value
Ortessa made a well-considered choice for this investment. “Digitisation is a core value of Ortessa; we want to be at the forefront of the market and make maximum use of technology to achieve sustainable results”, says Rob Meulendijks. “AMCS offers us unprecedented opportunities to do this.
With the AMCS Platform, Van Kaathoven Groep, Veyzle and Valor Compostering will optimise the business processes for waste management, waste collection and waste processing activities. Manual processes and paper flows related to order management, receipt of loads, route lists, delivery notes, weigh tickets and the recording of distances traveled by company vehicles are digitised. Planning and implementation will also shortly be supported by the most modern technology and customers will have access to a new web portal that will facilitate online self-service for the majority of typical transactions.
Rob Meulendijks: “With the digitisation of waste logistics, we are taking a great step towards improving efficiency. Reducing administrative work and manual input reduces the chances of errors. Because data is exchanged in real-time, it is always up-to-date and available everywhere. This allows customers to be proactively informed and receive quick answers to their questions. In short, an improved customer experience. ”
Collection vehicles equipped with on-board computers
As part of the rollout of the AMCS Platform, all Van Kaathoven vehicles will be equipped with tablets running the AMCS Mobile Workforce application. This allows the execution of routes to be completed digitally. The digital Dutch waste transfer note (Elektronische Begeleidingsbrief Afval) is also being implemented; orders will soon be sent digitally and in real-time to the vehicles and processed via the on-board computer.
The planning team thereby gains better insight into the current situation on the road and the status of the assignments during the day. For example, urgent orders can be assigned directly to a vehicle already on the road. This significantly reduces planning time and ensures a more effective use of the available collection resources. The acceptance and grading of incoming loads at the weighing locations will also soon be managed with a mobile app.
Available 24/7 for customers
With the implementation of AMCS Customer Portal, customers get 24/7 access to a user-friendly web portal. Orders can be placed and customers have continuous access to the correct order information, reports and invoices. Customers can, therefore, do their administration at a time that suits them. By automating the handling of frequently asked questions, such as queries about a weighing ticket or invoice, customer service employees have more time for tasks that add value. The AMCS Customer Portal will also reduce the number of incoming calls, reducing the workload in the customer contact center.
“AMCS is our technology partner, with an impressive track record in the waste and recycling industry and their industry-specific end-to-end solution. AMCS invests in technology and continues to develop the AMCS Platform. Thanks to these optimisation steps, we have more time to focus on the personal relationship with our customers”, says Rob Meulendijks.
Mark Abbas, Director AMCS Netherlands: “We are very pleased that the Ortessa Group has opted for the AMCS Platform. It is a great, family, dyed in the wool, waste and recycling business – it’s in their DNA. The management has a clear vision of how they want to become a leader in the market with the digitisation of their business operations.”
