IT Operations Lead (Hybrid – Boston)

Ready to level up your career?

We're hiring a hands-on IT Operations Team Lead to lead a team of engineers while staying technical. You'll be the escalation point for complex issues, drive operational excellence, and deliver infrastructure and security projects across the EMEA region.

This is a role for a technical lead — someone who still enjoys building, automating, troubleshooting, and improving platforms, while coaching others and raising standards.

Why AMCS?

At AMCS, we don't just offer jobs, we offer purpose-driven careers. You'll be part of a fast-growing, innovative company that's reshaping how industries manage resources, reduce waste, and optimise operations. Our culture is rooted in connection - connection to our mission, our customers, and each other. We foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where your ideas and impact matter.

What you'll do

  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex incidents (root cause, permanent fixes, post-incident improvements)

  • Lead root-cause analysis, define permanent fixes, and ensure lessons learned are embedded through documentation and process improvements

  • Take ownership of technically challenging problems and see them through end-to-end, from investigation to resolution and follow-up

  • Lead technical workstreams for initiatives such as office moves, network and firewall refreshes, cloud and hybrid improvements, and acquired-company integrations

  • Work closely with vendors, internal stakeholders, and other IT teams to deliver changes safely and effectively

  • Improve platform reliability and performance through proactive monitoring, automation, patching, and repeatable operational processes

  • Work closely with the Information Systems team to support audit readiness and evidence capture aligned to ISO27001, SOC, and internal control frameworks

  • Work closely with the Cyber Security team to ensure security best practices are embedded across identity, endpoint, network, and infrastructure platforms

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of security posture, resilience, and risk management

  • Provide day-to-day technical direction and mentoring to engineers; help them develop deeper expertise and confidence

  • Set clear expectations around ownership, accountability, quality, and follow-through

  • Support individual development, progression planning, and readiness for increased responsibility

  • Partner with IT Operations leadership on workload planning, risk management, and delivery priorities

What we're looking for

  • Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive)

  • Azure fundamentals (networking, compute, storage, monitoring)

  • Entra ID (Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, identity protection, RBAC)

  • Intune / Endpoint Management (Autopilot, compliance, configuration profiles, app deployment)

  • Windows Server (AD DS, GPO, DNS/DHCP, certificates/PKI, file services)

  • Linux fundamentals (admin, troubleshooting, services)

  • LAN/WAN/WLAN fundamentals (routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs)

  • Firewall concepts (policy, NAT, IPS/IDS) and secure remote access / Zero Trust principles

  • Secure baseline thinking: least privilege, segmentation, patching, logging/monitoring

  • Scripting/automation

  • Monitoring & alerting concepts, incident management, problem management

  • Documentation discipline: runbooks, KBs, standard operating procedures
