Insights into how AMCS Mobile prevents revenue leakage and increases cash flow

Ensuring all work is billed by charging customers for additional lifts, or overweight and contaminated bins. With this, AMCS Mobile prevents revenue leakage while also mitigating financial risks for waste collecting companies. “Instead, those additional lifts are generating turnover because customers can be charged for extra services”, mentions Ken Tierney, Product Manager at AMCS, as one of the main benefits of AMCS Mobile.

“The integrated system monitors the entire collection process of every executed operation while recording all lifts and weights. This provides the waste collector with up-to-date information on the complete collection, ensuring the correct invoicing of all collections and also minimising the risk of wrongfully billing the customer.”

Insight in waste operations leads to higher profit margins and faster billing

Waste collection with AMCS Mobile is like dipping into a continuous data flow through a never-ending integrated network presenting the planner, driver and call centre with real-time service data right on the spot, Tierney says. “Up-to-date information is of the utmost importance. It prevents the unnecessary extra cost to collect missed bins, unscheduled pickups or empty containers from non-customers. Due to this AMCS Mobile, generates extra turnover by enabling the waste collector to bill for extra services.”

For the driver, there is little effort to capture this extra job, given the smart and user-friendly design on the android device. “During the execution of jobs, the system supports the driver on the route at a customer’s collection point if any extra charges apply. On the screen of his mobile device, he simply selects the corresponding charge and quantity, after which the charge is automatically linked to the customer's job. Instantly the weight is captured against the customer and ready for invoicing. This is speeding up the billing process. Since customers are more likely to pay faster when they receive a digital invoice, AMCS Mobile contributes to increasing cash flow.”

Reducing the risk of revenue loss through driver churn and missed collections

Capturing all work against customers is mainly why AMCS Mobile contributes to mitigating financial risks for waste collectors, he explains. "Any time during the collection planners have a complete overview of the status of the routes, orders, and service carried out for customers. This insight in the everyday operation reduces not only financial risks but, at the same time, contributes to comprehensive process oversight, higher profit margins and most importantly faster billing. Additionally, we also better understand how the routes are driven and, as a result, what opportunities arise to optimise them. That reduces both costs like the driver's overtime and deploying an extra vehicle to empty missed bins.”

The mobile solution also reduces the risk of revenue loss through driver churn, he clarifies. “Through built-in guided navigation, routes of experienced drivers are digitally available on each of the in-cab devices of all colleagues, including the less experienced ones. Therefore, they never have to miss a bin which prevents costs for that missed collection which leads to fewer customer callbacks which positively contributes to the customer service and collection KPI’s.”

Additionally, the high-level of analysis of the integrated system identifies possible inefficiencies, he rounds up the interview. “All data in the never-ending network can be analysed – from the evidence of routes, blocked access, presentation rates, driver recorded events all the way through the outcomes of the driver debrief. Waste collectors can, based on that, identify possible improvements and monitor the positive business outcomes. And since the mobile solution also reduces CO2 emissions and fuel consumption AMCS Mobile also contributes to the sustainability of waste collectors.”
