10th February, 2014 – Limerick-based environmental software and technology developer AMCS Group, a world-leader in the provision of integrated waste management software and vehicle technology has announced the acquisition of a US software company, PC Scale Technologies (PCST), based in Pennsylvania.

The deal follows last month’s completion of a €23.5 million investment round by Highland Capital Partners Europe and Investec Ventures through the Ulster Bank Diageo Fund. The US acquisition is part of AMCS’s strategy of further consolidating its leadership position in international markets.

The newly acquired PCST has an annual turnover of approximately $10 million (c. €7.4 million) and employs 50 people across the US. The deal firmly positions AMCS Group as the largest provider of and global leader in software and technology for the recycling and waste sector.

Commenting on the acquisition, AMCS Group CEO, Jimmy Martin, said: “This acquisition clearly demonstrates our ability to leverage key international growth markets following the recent investment of €23.5m by Highland Capital Partners (Europe) and Investec Ventures. The acquisition of PCST provides real scale and genuine synergy, leveraging our common technology and combined industry expertise. Our increased product offering, implementation and service capabilities result in AMCS being the only provider of a truly one-stop software solution on a global scale.”

PCST founder and CEO Donald Tefft said: “AMCS Group and PCST’s shared values and focus on providing superior customer service was a key component of this deal. I have complete confidence that AMCS will maintain this focus and continue delivering the products and service levels that have helped our customers grow and become so successful.”

The new division of AMCS Group will be led by PCST’s current COO, Ken Good.
