AMCS secure contract with SITA UK and Warwickshire CouncilAdvanced Manufacturing and Control Systems UK (AMCS UK), one of the UK’s leading firms in the supply of technology to the waste management and recycling industry, have been appointed by SITA UK and Warwick District Council to provide advanced bin identification solutions. The contract, worth £250,000, went live last month.
AMCS, who cater for both domestic and commercial waste collectors, were evaluated by SITA UK as the most technically advanced firm in its field, warding off competition from numerous other companies across the sector.
The project to date has involved the supply and distribution of 75,000 chipped bins, assisted by AMCS’ highly advanced ‘Routeman’ software. This onboard bin identification system consists of an industrial computer, integrated GPS and real time data download. Crucially, this provides SITA UK and Warwick District Council with information relating to the type of bins, as well as the number of bins, that have been collected. In addition, it allows the driver to record the bins that have not been presented, contaminated bins and bins containing excess waste.
As an added functionality, AMCS’ technologically advanced solution provides SITA UK and Warwick District Council with an onboard digital map, ensuring optimum route efficiency. The system can also indicate where assisted collections are necessary and allows instant messaging to the collection crews.
Austin Ryan, Business Development Director, AMCS comments:
"We’re delighted to have secured this contract and having already worked with various councils in the UK, it is further evidence of our continued progress."
Jim Wilks, Special Projects Manager, SITA UK comments:
"SITA UK has worked with AMCS to deliver an On Board Computing (OBC) Solution for to a major municipal client. We selected AMCS as our partner for this important project based on their industry knowledge, and a proven track record of installation. It was extremely important to us that AMCS provided a complete end-to-end solution as there was a need to deploy the technology rapidly and with minimum disruption. AMCS have provided us with a system that has achieved this with the minimum amount of risk and the maximum amount of confidence.
When the contract went live in April it was on schedule, on budget and provided precisely the solution required for the contract."
