AMCS Group and Terberg Matec UK have a long standing relationship, formally dating back over 4 years. So when they asked us to sponsor one of their handmade soapbox carts for a charity derby, we were happy to oblige. Not only would our support help them to raise money for a very worthy cause, but we couldn’t resist a bit of good, healthy competition.

With a collective of three soap box cart teams, Terberg Matec UK raced in the debut Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice Soap Box Derby event on Saturday 1st October 2016 in Rotherham.

The event turned out to be a great success, with over 40 competing team, and 3500 spectators lining the course at a very sunny Clifton Park in Rotherham (UK), but more importantly the event raised in excess of £10,000 for a very worthy cause.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the Thunderbird, Thunderberg or the Terberg Warriors who won the event, but what they lacked in speed, was made up for in team spirit, entertainment and (obviously) the crowd pleasing design of their carts. That being said, they certainly weren’t disgraced, with their fastest time set in run 2 for Thunderberg 1, of 50 seconds, a mere 6 seconds slower than the winning time.

Sheldon Hall, Marketing Manager from Terberg Matec UK said, “I would personally like to thank everyone from Terberg Matec UK that put time and effort in to helping design and build our fantastic carts. A massive thank you also to family, friends and partners that came along on the day to cheer us on down the hill and of course to those that have donated”

“I know as I circulated through the crowds I heard quite a few people commenting about our “dustcarts” and how great they were. During the pit lane walkabout’s the children loved our designs and clambered over each other to get to sit inside them for photo opportunities especially the Mad Max style wheelie bin/lawnmower hybrid Terberg Warriors chariot”

A great day had by all, for such a worthy cause. Donations continue to be taken at http://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/TerbergSoapBoxDerby.
